Runaway

After work I took the bus to Fiskebøl, ferry, then bus to Sortland, Risøyhamn and Andøy to get away and to see my good friend Martin. Tomorrow is my birthday and I don't like any attention som I might just go and explore another island.

Bodø

Today I am working in Bodø, I am engaged in a temporary IT-project so I need to meet some of the doctors from different apartments which is very fun. To see the new part of the hospital, I have not been here for several years.

Monday morning

I arrived first at work and had to dig myself in to the door. This is kind of fun. Yesterday was a bit like this movie "The day after tomorrow".

Winter chaos

 

 

 

 

Today we had a brilliant plan, we were going to do some avalanche training, me, Tina, Inger and her dog which is a trained avalanche rescue dog. So Tina picked me up in Ballstad and it took us for ages just to get to Leknes since the road was not yet plowed and it was snowing heavily. We had to stop several times to clean the windshield wipers from ice and we could not even see where the sides of the road started or ended, it was all whiteout. (I think today was the day when the sales of windshield wipers went through the roof). The weather forecast had predicted snow but not this massive amount which kept on going. Inger could not get out on the road so we went to Tina's place for some coffee (at least what we thought) but as we got out of her car in front of the house we were also stuck. So we dropped all plans and we stayed at her house watching the snow rise outside covering almost the entire veranda door. Since we could not get anywhere and conditions did not seem to stop we just made dinner, watched movies and I had to stay the night. We shoveled some snow to be able to move the car under roof. Then late evening came the snowplow, cars were stuck everywhere by then, left and covered with snow. What a crazy sunday....

Nordheia

 

 

Today we went on a short skiing trip. It was freaking cold and the conditions were not so good, as we got higher to the summit there was drifting snow which is uneven, partly hard and partly soft. But still it was good to get out!

Claudia

 

Today I went skiing with Claudia and then we had practice with Red Cross (Vestvågøy Hjelpekorps)

We practised follow the scooter on skis (which I have never done before) and of course I fell directly but then I got more control after a little practise and it was quite fun. Then we had a scenario with a person that we had to save a person and place in a stretcher (this is quite heavy lifting) then sent with the scooter to the hut.

Yesterday as we came down from the mountain I got a text with an invitation to Nesland. I am so lucky today! So Andrej left my at the crossing to Nusfjord where Tommy picked me up maybe half an hour later coming from Leknes. I also got a call from Red Cross but had no energy to join this mission which also involved a deceased person (not sure if mentally prepared for that). Anyway we went to Nesland, warmed up the kitchen, then had pizza, beer and movie. Then woke up to a beautiful day, had coffee and breakfast, packed our stuff and went to Blue Mountain. We followed this beautiful ridge and went down another place to where the road ends in Skjelfjord.
