Skiing in Napp

Today we thought about skiing Storklauva but then realised it was to big a project for doing after work and also the avalanche danger was really high and there were some steep parts. So we just went something like halfway but still got some good skiing down.

Heading home

Today it was stormy so all the ferries were canceled except one but then we had to drive an extra long way around Narvik to get home. So we started at 9 am and were in Svolvær probably around 9 pm. There was one more bus to Leknes but since I missed the other one I had to take a cab home to Ballstadøya. So I was home just before midnight...

Saturday in Saltstraumen

Divided into groups.
Beer to go.
We are on our way.
This is my group.
Stig Anton solving one of the tasks.
Dinner with fire.

Today was more serious with meeting and discussions about safety and other things. But then we were divided into teams and had to walk to where we were having dinner. I think it took us a little over an hour and we had to solve some things along the road which was fun. Then we ended up in a place with a huge fire and the food was prepared like in the old days. Back at the hotel we had another drink and it got late...

Valnesfjord

We had breakfast at 7 am then we packed and left at 9 for Valnesfjord. We went to Nordre Nattmålstuva. In the evening dinner and speech from a man surviving an avalanche. I think we were something like 45 people from all different DNT Fjellsportgroups around Norway.

Heading for new adventures

I was so excited today since I am going to DNT Fjellsport gathering. I left 15 minutes earlier from work to catch the bus to Svolvær where Per waited and we drove to Lødingen for the ferry and further on. We had a long drive but finally we arrived at Saltstraumen Hotel around 11.30 pm. Most people already went to bed but we met a few people.

Summit 788 m.
On our way down.
We were expecting nice morning light but instead it was a whiteout and snow blowing inside and covered our backpacks and Cody's shoes. So we waited a while to get up and hike. I had breakfast and then we packed everything and headed for the summit. It was an adventurous hike but fun and also very long so I was quite tired after coming down.

Cody enjoying deluxe dinner at camp.
Yesterday we were invited for dinner at Siri and Per in Svolvær and then we went to hear the speech by Tormod Granheim among all the SKIMO participants. That's inspiring about doing all the peaks in the alps oabove 4000 m. But today we are taking the ferry to Melbu for the avalanche course by Vesterålen Turlag. Weather was amazing today. We took the ferry back around 5 pm. Me and Cody went for new adventures hiking up to Middagsheia which I think was around 415 m. So we pitched the tent and melted snow around 8.30 pm. Hoping for magic pink light early tomorrow morning!
