Back to Reine

There is something about this house...
Vindstad
Letterboxes.
We are first in line for the ferry.

This is Anna from Austria.
Justyna picked us up in Reine. We went for a coffee and cake first. Then they dropped me off in Ramberg where I met this sweet girl from Austria. We took the bus to Leknes where I had to wait for the next bus to Ballstadøya and she had to wait for the bus to Stamsund so we went to Peppes and shared a pizza while waiting.

Sunset of the year?

Such a lovely morning.

Wow. Cody woke me up to see this.
It's really cool because we met one of the ancestors to the people who lived in that house. This guy is living in Oslo and comes here every summer. Today there are no residents on the west side of Moskenesøya but until about 1950 people still lived there. The trip was arduous and took about three hours by brisk walking. In winter it was not possible to go over the mountain, and they were isolated from the world. After the second world war they got telephone connection. From 1937 there was a battery-powered radio, hidden for the Germans during the war, but the farm never got electricity.

At work.
Arriving after 2 hours.
View over the lost valley.
First I had to stop in Ramberg to say goodbye to my dear friends which are moving back south. I'm gonna miss them. I had coffee and cake then I went to Cody and Justyna. She drove us to Reine where we took the boat to Vindstad. We went up 500 meters and pitched our tent with the most amazing view over the lost valley. This is a place I want to keep secret from any tourists. It's a hidden gem and should remain untouched...

Gloomy sunday

Haukland.
Haukland.
New cafe / art shop.
Uttakleiv.
Too many tourists now I think.
Sans og Samling.
Today the weather was a bit grey so we had breakfast at Unstad beach and then we went to Haukland and Uttakleiv to show these places to Jeanette. Although it made me sad that some tourists just don't respect the nature in Lofoten. So much trash and most of these people came by car...also at Haukland it is forbidden to camp but there were so many tents and cars and buses. Most of Lofoten is free to camp but not at Haukland beach and not at cemeteries which also happens every year. Some people have no respect. Anyway time to head home to Hattvika and rest a little. Tomorrow Jeanette is leaving.

Friday on my mind

We went to Unstad and the beach were full of tents. But we went to the lake which was very peaceful. Made dinner and hiked up the holy mountain where Cody stayed a bit longer than us to wait for the perfect light. It looked like the sky was burning, it was almost hard to go inside the tent but then I was tired.
