Another hot day in paradise

Today I went to work and the server was still not back on track so me and Sissel got the day off! Unfortunately I could not go hiking because I had to be "stand by" if they get things working during the day but they never called so I packed my stuff on the bike and went for Kågen. Then Tor Martin called and said he was back on the island just for today so he wanted to come along. We met by the ferry at Storstein, walked to Vittnes and then up to the "first water" (since I forgot my sunglasses on a rock when swimming). So I found them and we took a quick swim in the first lake. Then we went another way back passing the second and the third water.

 

Crazy monday

Today when I came to work we heard that there was a major server breakdown this weekend and nothing had been done! With the result that we could not do anything so the decision was that we close and only one doctor stayed on duty for emergency + me and Sissel to take care of the phone calls and patients coming in for their appointment. They said it might take two days to fix (!) it so maybe we'll be lucky and have a day off tomorrow with full payment...

I had a late start today...cycling to the ferry at Storstein where I parked my bike and walked to Vittnes. The blueberries are ripen and there are so many on the way - I am in blueberry heaven! I also had some crowberries just because they are so nutritious but nog as tasty as the blueberries. I crossed the stream and then went upwards to the first water. It was such a hot day today! At the end was some wet parts and one tricky climbing part where I thought here I would feel better with a rope and some camalots. But I was eager to get up and didn't let that stop me. Maybe I choose a bad route upwards? Anyway, I got up and the view was great of course. I didn't find any summit book so I placed my own (I brought one just in case). When I came down again I took a short swim in the really cold lake and had picnic before I went down and had some more blueberries on the way back.

Helge and Svanhild are celebrating golden wedding (50 years) so I am helping out as waitress. The party took place at Skjervøy boat club at the harbour. There were 40 guests and I helped the chief in kitchen and with serving.

 When I went to work I had everything packed so after work me and Marianne went straight to the ferry. N and N came in the last moment. Just after Fossbakken we realised that she refused to cross the snowfield. So we tried to find an alternative route to the one that we planned but it's hard to avoid the snowfields because they are quite frequent and after a while they decided to turn because the found it too steep and were a bit scared so we split the group and they slowly went down on their own. We called them just after summiting just to make sure they were okey. We were a bit tired when coming down to the house but very happy and celebrated with some sparkling wine. We went to bed at 2 am. Tomorrow we'll catch the 7 am ferry back for work.

Today we went to Breikågen, also on the Kågen island. Such a beautiful view, we had a loooong coffe break in the sun up there. Then we saw the mist spreading on the way down so that the sea just vanished and almost whole of Skjervøy, you could only see the summit of Skattøra which is 345 m. Today I was home really early at midnight!

I just came back from work and got a message if I want to go hiking? An hour later we were on our way up the trail to Høgfjellet on Kågen island. The view was awesome and the weather was perfect. I was back home at 01.30 am.

My bike is waiting...

Me and my bike went at 8 am to Maursund and it took 1,5 hours. I left the bike and went up the path to Maursund valley. When I was half way up the snowfield suddenly I thought this was not such a good idea to continue on my own. If I would fall here I would have nothing to hold on to. If only I had my crampons or at least an ice axe...so I decided to turn. Despite this I had a beautiful day in the valley.

Morning ferry

Today we took the morning ferry back at 7 am and directly to work. Unfortunately this hike was too hard on Renate, her knee was all swollen and hurting. I had a really good time even though we had to turn but then I was really tired today after work. I was thinking about going to Uløy today but I'll change my plans and see what I can do tomorrow instead...
