Skottinden

Happy shining sunday! Today it was a lovely weather and I decided to look for an alternative route up Skottinden, I didn't go all the way though because I only brought crampons and no ice axes. On my way up I met Elisabeth and Øystein on their way down.

Sversvika

It was a happy shining saturday with clear weather so me and H went to Sversvika and the lovely cave where you can take shelter from the wind, eat your lunch or make a fire. Tomorrow it's sunday but I have to work 8-5 pm due to merging of all databases in Helse Nord.

The cross was set up under the auspices of Guy Bjercke from Oslo in the autumn of 1985 after he got some kind of revelation after a journey with the ferry over Nappstraumen and a walk to Sversvika: "I got to acknowledge the existence of God - out of it, I raised a cross in his honor, and I was shown where it should stand. before Ole came....
Rebecca came to visit and we had some beautiful but cold days. After one week came Ole with the extreme weather. I had secured my bikes outside with straps the night before. The hurricane ravaged all over Lofoten. Roads were closed. Ferries and flights were canceled and then the power went. It was so cold inside. The next day we didn't have any water. 70 000 people were without power. First it was a bit cozy to make pancakes on the primus in candlelight but then we were out of gas. And my phone didn't work. We went to Gyda and had some tea and warming by the fire and then we went back to Ballstadøya. When you got inside it didn't feel like coming indoors.  Now it was more like a feeling of "The day after tomorrow". Sunday night we drove to the hospital, it was total whiteout and we could hardly see anything. We got a room at the "nurses home" so we could charge, take a hot shower and cook a warm meal before going to work. Monday we got the power back and just enjoyed it. When these things happen, one realizes how comfortable lives we actually have and how these disturbances affects us. And thankful for neighbours that care about each other. When I came from work Anne Marie gave us a freshly baked bread right from the oven. Thursday Rebecca was supposed to fly home but it was cancelled and booked again for friday 13th. But this time the flight went even though it was slightly delayed. What a week, wind and snow has been ravaging like crazy all week...but at least we are thankful to have power and running water.
