I am grateful...

Saturday I decided it was time to try cycling so I first went to the local shop at Ballstadøya and picked up my new wicked bike light which has two red laserbeams that creates a virtual bike lane. Then I continued to Kræmmervika and back home again. It went really well so monday I'll start cycling to work again. Andreas came and we went on a hike up Ballstadheia then we went to the climbing wall. I might as well try climbing too. And it's possible but I do have some limitations in movement and don't want to lead yet. We were invited to Kjartan and Øydis for homemade pizza later (after the kids went to bed) and that was really nice. Sunday we went to Tekoppstetten, weather was ok when we started but wind was increasing a lot and some more rain to that...after this we went to the climbing wall again for a short session. I AM SO GRATEFUL that I can start cycling again and do a little climbing. It's been almost 4 weeks but it feels so good it's like getting my old life back. Soon I can head for the steep mountains again without any limitations. I know that it might not be such a long time but it did feel like ages.

Cruising over Vestfjorden

The early northbound ship.
MS Nordnorge
Stamsund harbour.
Clothing tips for northern Norway!
MS Trollfjord northbound.
Early onboard at MS Trollfjord.
I had to take a day off from work to travel to Bodø and get my passport from the Swedish consulate. So I went to Stamsund and had to wait for the 10.30 pm boat. I tried to kill some time watching a movie and then I tried to sleep. Arriving monday morning 02.30 am and I went straight to the hostel to check in. Two girls were already sleeping in the room. After breakfast I got my passport, ordered a new visa with id and bought myself a pair of Scarpa approach shoes. In the afternoon I went back with MS Trollfjord to Stamsund. I catched a bus and was back home at Ballstadøya one hour later.

Making progress...

I'm getting better each day and with the support from a skipole I actually made it all the way to Middagstinden! I did struggle in some of the upper steep parts and I was really slow but it was so good to get out this lovely day of autumn. Then we made a fire by the ocean at Storsandnes and grilled. That was really cozy with a fire, the sound of the waves, getting dark outside and the moon was rising.

Life moves at a slow pace...

Official opening Lofothallen.
Ytresand.
The road to Mulstøa.
Outdoor dinner at Mulstøa.
Beautiful moon over Ramberg beach.
How does the coffee machine work?

Two days after my accident, my nursing colleagues thought a specialist should have a look at my knee because they didn't have much confidence in the young intern doctor...and to my luck there was a swedish orthopedic specialist here this week (who also liked cycletouring by the way) and he had a look and sent me to an xray just to sure I had no internal bleedings or patella fracture which is not possible to see outside. My xrays looked fine so I will be ok it will just take some time.

Saturday we had our official opening of our climbing wall. Lot's of curious people came just to have a look, try climbing or have some coffee and cake. We got 50 new members this day and all our climbing courses in october are currently fully booked so that's very positive!

It's been a lovely autumn weather up here in the north. Sunday I met my new neighbour Kristina, she was having breakfast outside on the jetty in her down jacket. How wonderful! I took a really short walk (I walk like a cripple right now and really slow) just to get out in the sun, feel the wind in my hair and see the waves at the tip of my island. Later Andreas came by after finishing this weekends climbing course and we went to Gjermesøya and made dinner outside. It's really good to get out. I got so bored lying on the couch watching telly because that's all I could do lately. I'm currently going to work with Beate but I really, really hope I can get back on my bike in a week.

Monday we went to Mulstøa which is a quite easy walk normally but now a challenge for me. Tuesday I went to Lofothallen straight after work. Some guys came for the climbing test to get their "Brattkort" (climbing card) and then we had opening hours until 9.30 pm. Me, Martin and Elisabeth was in charge this night. Those two first weeks of opening people can come and try climbing and we are here to belay them but after this, one needs to have the climbing card.
