Climbing in Kåfjorddalen

I went up at 6 am for breakfast before it's getting too crowded with all 21 at the same time. Since we didn't know anything about this area we waited for some of the others and went together. Birtavarre is also the gateway to Halti, Finland's highest mountain. There is a summer route through this valley. We walked for almost 1,5 hours before the ice started to appear. There was a lot of ice and most of it was steep. We climbed two different routes before twilight came and we went back to the school. Today was my first time abseiling from abalakov! I had time for a quick shower and a beer before we all sat down for joint dinner. Jonas made bacalao in three huge casseroles. It's the first time I tried this dish. Bacalao is the spanish term for dried salt cod. I think from the beginning it's a portuguese fish stew. This was a tomato based bacalao casserole norwegian style with tomato, bell pepper, potatoes, onion, olives and chili.
