I'm not fucking here to make friends

Sorry for the language but this is a quote directly translated from my friend Annika, she is a bit weird. but I love her for the way she is.

We are ready to leave.

Like camping in someones garden...
Suur Munamägi (in translation "Big Egg Mountain") is the highest peak in Estonia (and the Baltic States), reaching 318 metres above sea level. They also built a very ugly tower on top where you can pay 4 € to go up the stairs and see only forest or you can take the elevator and pay 6 €. Amazing. I stayed downstairs and had a nice cup of estonian coffee which was really good. This mountain was quite hard since they made stairs to get up so I had to drag my heavy bike up there just so I could take the picture. After this I was so exhausted that we had to stop for lunch and have a beer. Then we could go on towards Obinitsa where we stayed for the night. On one of the country roads we met Ulo, I said hi when I was passing him and he said something in estonian. So I had to stop and try to communicate which Annika didn't like because she said he was delaying us. But he was so happy and then we could hardly get rid of him. He gave me a big bottle of sportsdrink with lemon flavour and then he showed me his id so I would get his name right and also his age? But in the end we left him behind us and found a lovely tower in the middle of nowhere. We got this great idea of sleeping up there but then we saw it was video surveillance so then we thought it might not be a good idea anyway....and I think that was good because around the next corner we saw a police car. I just waved happily to them as I passed. Finally we found a camping in Obinitsa so we could make dinner and watch the sunset.

Our camp for the night.

“The real question is not whether life exists after death. The real question is whether you are alive before death.” Osho

Blessing of a day.
This morning we had breakfast just before the rain came. Then we went back to Valga and further on towards Haanja nature reserve. We were riding 85 km and then we found a camping at Rouge but no one was there but we decided to pitch our tents anyway and then we could pay tomorrow. We had some rain today and the tents were still wet from yesterday but there was an unlocked room where we could cook and escape the mosquitos. Tomorrow will be a new and wonderful day.

Olga with family.
Valga.
Today we came to Cesis. It started raining. We had a fantastic lunch and then I went to look at the castle in Cesis while Annika was writing postcards. Then we went to the train station to wait for the train to Valga. On the train we met Olga and her family. She was happy to speak english and she was also quite drunk. We arrived late to Valga which was on the estonian side. The tourist information in Cesis told us about a lake where we could camp so we had to cycle back over the border to Latvia. It took us quite long to find that lake but finally we did. The road out there was pitch dark. When we came to the lake there was a car parked but it was dark so we didn't think anyone was in it. We went to look for a good tent spot, then suddenly the car turns on the lights but stays there. We got scared and turned off dynamos and headlamps. Then the car drives around the lake really slow two times. We took off our wests not to be seen and put down the bikes in the forest. It started raining and we were hungry so we just had some bread and sat there in the dark until they went away. Then we found a spot, we decided to sleep in the same tent tonight and Annika's tent is green so not easily spotted. When the tent was up then a car came again playing really loud music and some drunken people came out on the beach. The light from the car was almost shining on our tent through the forest and we were so scared. It was like a bad horror movie. It's even worse since you don't understand the language. They stayed long so we decided to move the tent just to hide a bit more. Then came another car riding really slow around the lake and stopped on the other side of us, really close and it was all dark and silent. Just the drunken people on the beach could be heard. We were afraid to go inside the tent this night. We didn't know what to do. Then the second car started and went away but still drove really slow. It started raining heavily and then the other car left. Now we went inside but we were still worried but hoping the rain would continue than they probably wouldn't come back. We did hear the car again but then I must have fallen to sleep even if I tried to stay awake.

*Cemetery pictures; Deutscher Soldatenfriedhof. Victims from the worldwar.

* It's ruins are some of the most impressive castle ruins in the Baltic states. German crusaders known as "The Livonian brothers of the Sword" began constructing of the castle in 1209.

Sigulda

Morning at camp Sigulda.
Looking for the caves...
Found some ruins...
And a castle.
And a cafe.
Castle surroundings.
Annika fixing the bike.
Out on the country side.
Having a break in the country side.
Dinner at the mill.
Annika with the dogs.
Araisi windmill
After breakfast we took our bikes and went looking for the caves but we never found those...but instead we found a castle, then a cafe and then we went to get our stuff and headed towards Cesis. It was a hot day on the country side. First the roads were good but then we ended up at horrible gravel roads where we had to drive really slow, then we headed out to the big road and traffic was really heavy. That was scary but then after a while we turned to a smaller road heading for Cesis. It got late and we saw a windmill so we went up that small road and we asked if we could camp there. There was a house next to it and they said we could camp there. Such a cosy place. They even had a tap of water we could use and two dogs which made Annika happy. We made dinner as the sun set over the fields. Now we are in Gauja nationalpark.

*Gauja nationalpark was the first national park in Latvia founded in 1973 to protect the unique nature values of Gauja valley and it's surroundings.

*In the highest hill are the majestic wings of the windmill of Araisi which was built in the middle of the 19th century. It's a so called dutch mill. Already in the 14th century mills of such kind was built in Latvia. The top part of the mill can be turned towards the wind with a special mechanism. It was possible to ground flour for brown bread and forage, as well as to make groats.

Arriving Lithuania

Healthy breakfast?
Arriving in Klaipeda.

Klaipeda.
Riga.
Waiting for the train.
Camp Sigulda.
Breakfast 7 am on the ferry consisting of small fat pancakes, croissants, white bread, tasteless cheese and weird cheese, more white bread and horrible coffee. Actually there were some greens as well so I shouldn't complain...but I've had better. Anyway we are so happy to arrive and we managed to get on a bus to Riga so we could start with Estonia and ride down south. I can't believe it's september because it was like the hottest summer day. Luckily we had time for a cold beer while waiting for the train to Sigulda. We found a camping without staff but we pitched our tent there by the river. They don't have the same "right of common" like we do in Sweden and Norway so we are not sure where we can actually camp, maybe best at campings.
