The Small Old Men Ridge
-these various rocky tops are the largest peaks on the multi-summited ridge to the north of Vågakallen. Nearly all of this spectacular ridge was traversed for the first time in the summer of 1933 by Arne Randers Heen and his cousin Eirik Heen. Parts of the ridge are extremely exposed, with sheer walls falling away on both sides.
This morning I got a hike with Stefan to Svolvær, he was joining Lofoten Turlag to Higravtind and I was meeting Eline. First we had coffee at her house, then we went to Kalle. We were heading for the Småkallan ridge. Today there was a lot of activity since the alpine rescue team had a day of exercise. So the helicopter was close flying over us most of the day. We were a bit wet on our way down since there was a lot of snow still. We went back to the house and had a hot shower. I had to borrow some clothes from her so we could go out for pizza and beer. We ended up at Du Verden and the whole place was in total saturday party mood and soon got crowded.
