The film crew

Today after work I went with the german film crew to show them some possible good locations. Not the best, because they are too far, but some good spots around Vestvågøy. Tomorrow the actors are coming. I hope they will make a good movie about climbing a mountain.

Lofoten Rangers

Let me present; Lofoten Rangers

Lofoten is our key area of interest, as it is one of the places where tourism has increased tremendously the past few years. This has lead to an increased pressure on the nature. The beautiful nature you come to see, is in danger of being eroded if we don’t do better in taking care of it. We believe that the responsibility is shared, and that everyone who enjoys the adventure of Lofoten takes part in its future. In Norway, the Public Right of Access gives way to the freedom of enjoying the beauty of our commons. What it demands in return, is your awareness.

An ordinary day in Lofoten

Today was an amazing sunny day all day so after work I didn't exactly know where I was going but just cycled towards Offersøy. Then came the fog rolling in and as I parked my bike I met Kjell Are. He was going up Offersøy and so I said I'll join. Actually I didn't have a plan to hike but just had a mission to take some photos for our new project...anyway I went up the hill through the snow and into the fog and then suddenly we were above the fog!

Last skiing trip?

I went straight home after work. Then Raymond picked me up and then we got Merete, and then we god Andrej in Leknes. We were heading for Blåtind but it was really icy and hard so Raymond and Andrej continued but me and Merete went to another nearby peak with nice fluffy snow instead, and not so steep.

Waffel tuesday

As I came home, my neighbour asked if we should make waffels? Of course. Since today I am only drying my tent and not doing anything else.

Smallidalstind

So we drove straight after work to Å. First we followed the water but snow was really deep and so we checked the ice which was quite solid so we continued walking on the ice which was a lot easier. Up to 430 m which was quite strenous. There we set camp, melted water and had dinner. The morning after we went for the summit of Smallidalstind. But down at the lake on the other side Andrej decided to turn around. I continued by myself. I felt safe even though there was not much visibility, but I know the area quite well. It took me 7 hours from tent down to the valley and up the ridge to summit, then back again the same route. I thought it would be safest to follow my own tracks back until I got visibility again. Then we thought about moving camp down to the wind shelter. But as we came down we were so wet and cold that we decided to return to the car and go home. So in total todays hike was 10 hours. ST called to see if I had come down safely since he didn't hear anything after summit. That's very kind.

Nice weather. Phone call from Kjell Arne. I couldn't say no to go skiing after work on such a lovely day! Kjell Are also joined us at the starting point. We met Ivar as he came down. This was a perfect day!
